Worldpay for Platforms (formerly Payrix)
Embedded payment facilitation platform helping SaaS companies monetize payments, manage compliance, and grow.
Overview
Worldpay for Platforms is the embedded payments division of Worldpay, Inc., purpose-built to help vertical SaaS companies integrate and monetize payment processing and financial services within their software products. Originally founded as Payrix (first live transaction in 2016), it was acquired by FIS in February 2022 and subsequently rebranded under the Worldpay umbrella. When FIS sold a majority stake in Worldpay to private equity firm GTCR in 2024, the embedded payments business was re-separated as part of the standalone Worldpay entity. In January 2026, Global Payments completed a $24.25 billion acquisition of Worldpay. The platform offers a tiered engagement model designed for software companies at different stages of their payments journey: Referral Payments (a simple integrated referral with no operational overhead), PayFac-as-a-Service/Payrix Pro (white-label payfac where Worldpay handles underwriting, compliance, and risk), and Payrix Premium / PayFac Developer (a fully registered payment facilitator model where the software company owns the full experience and liability). The underlying API-first, white-labeled technology stack allows platform partners to control the merchant-facing payments experience including onboarding, fee configuration, disbursements, and branding. The platform also offers embedded financing (working capital), business banking accounts, and cards as value-added upsell modules. Worldpay for Platforms targets vertical SaaS companies operating in industries including automotive, optometry, field services, fitness, retail, hospitality, catering/events, and self-storage. It processes over 600 million transactions annually for more than 1,000 software platform partners. Key differentiators include automated and instant merchant underwriting, configurable fee structures, deep SDK/API integrations, and a proven track record with major enterprise software brands like Reynolds and Reynolds, Storable, and Eyefinity.
