Tapcheck
Earned wage access platform integrated with 300+ payroll systems for employers and white-label partners.
Overview
Tapcheck is a US Earned Wage Access (EWA) provider that lets employees access wages they have already earned before payday. Tapcheck integrates with 300+ payroll, HCM, and time-and-attendance systems (including ADP, Workday, iSolved, Paychex), and supports a white-label embedded mode through partnerships with HCM platforms (notably Viventium Pay and Savant Pay). The revenue model is employee-pay: employers pay $0, and employees pay a per-transfer fee disclosed in-app at the time of withdrawal. Tapcheck advances are non-recourse: the employee's wage is paid via the next payroll run via payroll deduction, but with no obligation outside of standard payroll mechanics. Tapcheck holds EWA-specific state registrations directly (NMLS #2634283) in California, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Utah, Indiana, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Maine — reflecting the evolving regulatory landscape for EWA in which states such as California (DFPI, October 2024) now require EWA-specific registration regardless of the non-recourse structure. Platform partners (HCM/payroll vendors and employers) do not need their own licenses; Tapcheck holds the necessary state registrations directly. Funding includes wage-advance capital via a $200M credit facility from Victory Park Capital. Founded in 2019 in Plano, TX. Equity funding totals approximately $45M: $20M Series A in June 2022 (PeakSpan Capital + Charles Schwab) and a $25M Series A extension in April 2025 (PeakSpan Capital). The company holds SOC 1 Type 2 (Moss Adams) and SOC 2 Type II certifications and is CCPA compliant. Notable employer customers include McDonald's franchise operators, Taco Bell (via R2 Restaurants), Burger King and Popeyes franchisees, Planet Fitness, and Genpak — plus 500,000+ healthcare employees served via the Viventium embedded partnership.
