Embedded Payroll

Canada's first embedded payroll infrastructure API, purpose-built for Canadian tax and compliance.

Overview

Nmbr is Canada's first dedicated embedded payroll infrastructure provider — a direct analog to Check (US) but purpose-built for Canadian regulatory requirements including CRA remittances, T4 generation, Records of Employment (ROE), and CPP/EI calculations across provincial jurisdictions. The platform lets Canadian B2B SaaS vendors, HRIS platforms, and vertical software companies embed full-service payroll into their products via API without managing the underlying compliance, money movement, or tax filing complexity. Nmbr handles federal CRA remittances, T4s, ROEs, CPP/EI, provincial statutory compliance, and ACH/EFT money movement. Banking infrastructure is provided by RBCx (Royal Bank of Canada's fintech innovation arm). The company is a registered Money Service Business (MSB) with FINTRAC and is SOC 2 certified. Pricing for end customers is approximately CAD $40 base plus $6–$10 per employee per month; partner commercial terms are opaque and custom. Founded in 2023 in Toronto by Simon Bourgeois (CEO), Drew Millington (CRO), and Kevin Langlois (CTO) — all formerly senior leaders at Humi, Canada's leading HRIS. The company raised a CAD $7.6M seed round in September 2024 led by Luge Capital with participation from Motivate Venture Capital, Golden Ventures, and Panache Ventures. Notable announced customers include ATB Financial, Collage HR, Fairly Staffing, and Paiday. US expansion has been mentioned but is not yet live as of mid-2026.
